The training program in Subtle Self Work teaches the application of the
Realization Process exercises to personal healing, integration, and development. It also teaches specific exercises for recognizing and releasing the emotional wounds, defenses and compensatory attitudes that are held in the body and that conceal our authentic nature. Emphasis is given to helping people remain connected with themselves while experiencing deep connection with other people.
Subtle Self Work helps accomplish the main tasks of personal healing by developing authenticity and self-possession, by cultivating the essential qualities of being, and by deepening the capacity for intimacy. Our spiritual essence is beyond injury. By connecting to it, even deeply rooted effects of trauma can be alleviated. At New York University Medical School, two pilot studies showed that the Realization Process exercises reduced symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
This training includes the relational aspect of Realization Process. Participants learn how to remain in unified consciousness while relating to clients. This deepens the capacity for empathy, and refines perception so that you can discern subtle energetic holding patterns within the body. Participants also learn how to help people release defensive organizations from the body, and maintain that release by inhabiting the subtle internal space of the body. They will also learn how to help couples attune more effectively to each other.
Above all, this is an opportunity to deepen and stabilize your realization of nondual reality.

This workshop teaches a series of attunement exercises, called Realization Process, for directly experiencing one’s own being as nondual consciousness, and for maintaining nondual realization in relationships with other people. In this approach, the radical openness of nondual realization is based on deep contact with the internal space of one’s body and access to the “wisdom channel” in the subtle core of the body. We therefore uncover a qualitative, authentic experience of ourselves as individuals at the same time as we transcend our individuality. When two people attune to nondual awareness together, they experience mutual transparency: a single expanse of awareness pervading them both as a unity. The workshop will also explore the relationship between psychological healing and nondual realization. Two pilot studies at New York University Medical School showed that Realization Process reduces symptoms of post-traumatic stress and enhances positive mood.

In Realization Process, the radical openness of nondual realization is based on deep contact with the internal space of one’s body and access to the “wisdom channel” in the subtle core of the body. We therefore uncover a qualitative, authentic experience of ourselves as individuals at the same time as we transcend our individuality. When two people attune to nondual awareness together, they experience mutual transparency: a single expanse of awareness pervading them both as a unity. They also experience resonant connection between the essential aspects of their being, such as intelligence, love, and physical sensation.
Most approaches to nonduality focus on breaking through fixed conceptual patterns. However, the fixations that obscure nonduality are not just conceptual. There are also rigid holding patterns throughout one’s body, limiting our capacity for emotional responsiveness and physical sensation. The subtle core of the body is disentangled from these rigidities. When we access it, we can let go of our fixed patterns of self and other, so that they actually dissolve. Then we are open to the present moment, effortlessly, throughout our whole body. This training focuses on the Meditation aspect of Realization Process. Participants will learn how to help people overcome specific obstacles to nondual realization, and how to accelerate results in meditation for both beginning and advanced students.
Along with the Realization Process attunement exercises, various forms of meditation, such as resting in nonduality, mindfulness, absorption, deity visualization, and one-pointed concentration will be taught, with discussion of their applications to personal and spiritual issues.
The training is an opportunity to deepen your own nondual realization, through intensive practice. The Realization Process exercises will be combined with periods of sitting, standing and walking meditation for cultivating stable nondual realization, subtle breath, subtle perception, and openness throughout the whole body. |

Realization Process
Week-End Workshop
With Judith Blackstone
June 24-26, 2011
At Esalen in Big Sur, California
To register, go to www.esalen.org |
All spiritual traditions refer to an essential dimension of existence, calling it fundamental consciousness, True Self, non-duality, and many other names. This dimension is not an abstract concept. It is the core of our own true nature and is accessible to everyone. Fundamental consciousness is experienced as clear, luminous space, pervading our body and our environment, transcending the duality of self and object. It is deeper than the physical and energetic levels of our being and beyond our psychological defenses, projections, images, and archetypes. Realization Process is a gentle, precise method of attuning to fundamental consciousness.
This workshop offers ways to: integrate fundamental consciousness with the body and breath/energy system; experience oneness with nature and people (while remaining grounded in your body); and see, hear, and touch on a subtler level. Realization Process attunement exercises will be combined with sitting and movement meditations, sound and breath work. We will also discuss how fundamental consciousness can facilitate psychological and physical healing. Please come prepared for deep, concentrated work.
There will also be time to enjoy the spectacular land and seascape, outdoor hot tubs and expert bodywork at Esalen. It is a powerful, healing environment.
